Glock 45

Holy Rusted metal batman. Glock has come out with a completely new gun.  Which is great because We have been beating these guys up lately for having very average guns, with extremely minimal advances in innovation. by the way this means that they are not great but not terrible either, just in case some of you out there forgot what average means, and misinterpreted that to mean we hate Glocks. The Glock 45 is the newest gun in the line up and should be available any day now, if it isn’t already by the time this video is launched. Stay tuned while I the bald guy, who has a self admitted mediocre knowledge of handguns, not to mention the fact that I’ve never shot it…  explain why I already hate it. Alright satire set up complete lets move on…

First off it’s called the G45, but it’s chambered in 9×19 And yes we know this has been mentioned in every other video covering the G45, but the ride on the bandwagon is just to damn comfy. Seriously though What the hell are these guys trying to pull? How complicated do you want to make this crap? As a gun store employee, I am already dreading the confused looks on customers’ faces when they try to return their Glock 45 because it takes 9 mil and not .45 ACP. I love .45 ACP and part of me wishes they had just made the gun in this caliber to make things both easy and awesome. But then again, 9mm is becoming increasingly excellent because of the innovations in bullet design; now there is almost no sacrifice for effectiveness of the cartridge when trying to increase capacity. I also suppose I could do my job and educate customers when I sell them a G45. Ugh… I guess I’ll give them a pass on this one.

The  brand new and shiny Glock 45 is different from the G17 and G19 because it is recycling the full sized frame of the G17 and the shortened slide of the G19. Hurray for inventing new things, amiright? But I guess the 4” barrel of the G19 is one of the most popular options for Glock customers, and the G17 offers a great purchase for the shooter with the ability to keep a 17 round capacity within the confines of the grip.

Aha, i see what you did there. you almost got me to like this thing.  Well let’s try to change that. Isn’t this is just a G19X but in a different color and a new name. I knew I hated this thing. Instead of actually creating something new and interesting it looks like  they just repackaged last year’s gun and told us it was new. If I wanted smoke blown up my rear end I’d be in the back yard with a pack of marlboro reds and a length of hose. But I guess it does have the improved stippling, a flared magwell, a modest beaver tail, no finger grooves, ambidextrous slide release, and the NDLC coating. OK, so I guess these parts are pretty nice.

Here’s the thing about the top half though, I bet dremel wielders can’t wait to start jacking this slide up. But I guess there might not be as much of a draw for that because Glock did something super weird and listened to the consumers; they added front serrations. Yes, ladies and gents front slide serrations are here as standard on your new glock. Here’s the thing about front serrations, you either really want them or you don’t care that they’re there. It’s really a win win situation where both Glock and the customers are going to be happy.

Also, they put their marksman barrel in this thing from the factory. Like, this is a really good barrel that can log 4” groups at 50 yards. I guess This is really a nice touch. We get all of the Gen 5 upgrades to the 19X,like the added front slide serrations, the marksman barrel. They also got rid of that weird little lip on the bottom of the grip that stops the gen 5 mags from going home in the 19X. OK, this thing is pretty sweet.

To wrap this up. I really do want to give Glock hard time for upgrading a current model and giving it a whole new name, but what would that be? G19X part 2, the awesome austrian? Honestly It was probably a good move just from a marketing standpoint to give this pistol it’s own title, and with all of the upgrades and modifications I think it really does deserve to be its own thing. This is actually a really great sign that a major manufacture truly has their ear the ground and is paying attention to what their customers want. I guess Glock might have won me over a little with this one because it’s also just a really good duty sized pistol that I’m really excited to get my hands on.
